化学 affects what we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch every day. In fact, just breathing in and out is performing a chemical reaction. Understanding chemistry provides a deeper understanding of how the physical world works, from why onions make you cry to why ice floats and even how SPF blocks the sun’s harmful rays. Chemists are leading the way in solving the world's energy and environmental problems to make an impact on the future health of our planet.

作为FSU化学系的学生, you will be encouraged to pursue an undergraduate research project with a faculty mentor. 除了, there are opportunities to develop lab skills as a paid lab assistant in the teaching labs. 

在校外, students often pursue internships at local industrial sites such as AbbVie, α分析, or at the US Natick Army Soldier Research Center. REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) programs are available through the National Science Foundation for students to pursue summer research at a large research university. 

化学 majors are eligible to apply for entry into FSU’s 4+1 Professional Science Master’s program, 专攻生物技术. The 4+1 option will enable you to complete your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just five years, 节省时间和金钱.
